Balefire

This is Balefire. He does double duty as a will o' the wisp type of fae in one of my personal settings and as a humanform Chandelure. Yes I admit to having a love of pokemon, though I've never been able to finish a game; I tend to get distracted about halfway through. Anyway, this did not turn out anything like I was originally envisioning and became a sort of experiment with interesting colored outlines. Not really sure what I think of it to be honest.

Balefire did not always have dark hair. He used to look very like his brother Lanthorn - ivory skin and white blond hair being the universal norm for will o' the wisps. Without going into too much detail, Balefire's life has been mostly unpleasant. The mechinations of some malcontent fae have left him bound to a court he would not have chosen on his own, and more or less than alive. Will o' the wisps being noted for their ability to walk between worlds, mortal and fae, made them the perfect choice to cross the bounds of life and death as required by their devilish plans. Balefire just happened to be the Will caught in their snare. The dark ritual left differences in his physical appearance - the dark hair, the scar across his throat, bruised looking lips, and the darkness of the flesh of his hands which fades back to pale up his forearms. More significant are the changes that cannot be seen. He is half-dead, a part of death lives within his being and inadvertently draws upon his own spark. In order to live he needs must feed upon in the life force of others. Mostly this occurs naturally with proximity, slowly siphoning off their energy. Anyway, enough rambling.
